2010 can bite me.

I'm done with 2010.  There has been far too much death and sickness for my taste.  I'm thrilled that there wasn't MORE death, but that doesn't make the sickness any easier to tolerate.

For Miles 2010 has been just fine.  He's growing like crazy.  When the weather turned cold I bought him all new pants.  They had the adjustable waist so the 2T/24 month stuff was fine...fit great, a little long even.

Fast forward to today...he's wearing all 3T.  None of the pants I bought him in October fit.  They're all high-waters.  He's wearing them anyway...some days when I haven't felt like killing myself to do laundry.  But seriously...in 3 months he grew out of the size that was almost too long?!  Where is my baby?  :-)

He's 2.5 now and he's 32 lbs. and 36" tall.  As of late, he's been really exploring boundaries and tippy toeing over that line whenever possible.  He doesn't like the word "no" at all and has also been into fake crying to try to get what he wants.  The other day he threw himself in the floor crying and kicking his feet for some ice cream before bed.  Uhm no.  So we ignored and eventually he came around, but lordy he needs to move on outta this stage quick!

He absolutely LOVED Christmas this year.  It was incredible for me and Brad to live it through his eyes this year.  We had just as much fun as he did.  His Christmas Day went like this:

Wake up to see what Santa brought me.  Play with what Santa brought me.  Hey!  There's Grandma, Papa, and Shera!  What?  They brought MORE fun stuff to play with?!  It's a Christmas miracle!  Nap?  I don't need no stinkin' nap!  Let's go to Granny & Poppy's house and see Zac & Nikki and Nic & Evaline!  Why yes I would love to watch a movie on the way out there and not nap.  Oh my gosh!  Granny & Poppy got me a horsey?!  What's that you say?  There's jellybeans in the kitchen...and clementines?!  I don't mind if I do...thank you.  Play.  Play.  Play.  Play.  Play.  Oops!  Mommy bumped her head on Zac's iPad.  Play.  Play.  Play.  Play.  Ride home and eat clementines?  Sure!  Watch a movie on the way home again?  Sure!  What are they saying Mommy?  I don't understand.  Oh it's french.  Well, par le vous france to you too.  Whew...thanks for putting me in my jammies and my bed Mommy.  Night, night.

Happy new year everyone!  I hope 2011 brings us all health, wealth & happiness.  Love you all.

Say good-bye to Nuk!

Randomly last Sunday Brad "threw away" Miles' nuk.  He hasn't had it at all for the last 3 days.  Sleeping has been a chore.  He sleeps through the night, but has a rough time going to sleep without it.  There have been tears.  Yesterday on our way home from school he asked for it:

Miles:  Mommy, I want my nukkie.
Me:  You don't need it.  Big boys don't need nukkies, only babies.
Miles:  I don't want to be a big boy! (tears ensue...)

Put that last statement on repeat and you have our conversation on the ride home yesterday.  Poor little guy.  It's bittersweet getting rid of that thing.  It was like his last little bit of "baby" that he was hanging onto.  Now he's officially a "big boy".  Well, he's still in a crib...but that doesn't count.  :-)  I want my baby back.  Mr. Independent is going to give me gray hairs.

This morning he kicked me accidentally as I was putting his clothes on.  I made a pouty face and he said "Sawwy Mommy.  I you best buddy."  :-)  Seriously, melts my heart just remembering it from this morning.  How did I get such a sweet, precious child?  He's truly incredible and wonderful and just exactly what I dreamed of.  Mischievious, curious, loving, sensitive, and hilarious.  A mother could not ask for more.

"Good things come to those who wait..." does not just refer to Heinz ketchup.  :-)
